My Favorite Healthy Snacks

My Favorite Healthy Snacks

Hunger can strike at the most inconvenient of times and making healthy choices can be difficult. As with any other meal of the day, healthy snacking requires some planning.

I am one of those people who just loves snacking. Whether I am at work getting busy or at home lounging, I always end up having snacks in my hand. My love for snacking has pushed me to look for healthier but still scrumptious options.

Here are some of my favourite snacks. They do not need much preparation but they all taste so good!

Handful of Nuts or Trail Mix

When I just need the littlest of something to tide me over, I grab a handful of nuts or trail mix. Why? It’s the ideal snack in my opinion. For one, nuts are full of healthy fats and protein, so I find them to be more satisfying than straight carbs.

Baked Zucchini Fries with Yoghurt Aioli

I love sweets but sometimes i just cave something savoury when I am snacking. When I first tasted zucchini fries, I immediately fell in love. I immediately made one myself for days where I want something crunchy and tasty.

Almond Butter Stuffed Apple Slices

This is probably the easiest healthy snack ever! It’s a great choice for a post-workout snack because it provides protein and carbohydrate to help your muscle recovery. Not only that, it also takes like heaven!

Hummus and Vegetable Sticks

The next snack is hummus and some sort of raw vegetable and I usually eat hummus with sliced carrots. It is high in protein from the chickpeas and of course you are getting a fiber as well from the hummus and vegetable. Choose your hummus wisely as loads of supermarket brands so contain added food chemicals and vegetables oils. A lot of cafes make their own humus with olive oil which is great other wise you could even make your own.

Greek or coconut yoghurt with seeds and berries

Snack number 4 is greek yoghurt you can use coconut yoghurt with fresh fruit and seeds. The yoghurt will provide your body with healthy probiotics, the natural sugars from the fruit also make it a great pre-workout snack too. This snack is super yum and it makes a good healthy dessert too.
